Intermediate/Jr High 1 wrap-up!

June 30th, 2008 Posted in Camps

With the first full Camp session under our belts, the staff feels safe in saying that the 2008 Camp Cross season is off to an amazing and exciting start! Intermediate/Jr High 1 ran from June 22-27th, with Candi Bailey and Fr Chris Hagenbuch as the Resource Team. The campers arrived on Sunday bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready and eager to see old friends, meet new ones and get busy making lots of noise! The theme of the week was church holidays - Monday was Easter, Tuesday Pentecost/Birthdays, Wednesday Halloween, and Thursday Christmas. The campers learned some new games (such as “Life & Death in the Forest”), new songs (”Da Moose”), and new dance moves (including swing dancing and Thriller)… Ask them to teach you sometime! Although the water was too chilly for full waterfront, we were able to get in and splash around a bit by Wednesday - a nice reprieve from the toasty warm weather. We also got to do a gift exchange, a dance on the pontoon for the Junior Highers, a Monster Mash party in the Ark, a full-camp birthday party with LOTS of cake, Trick-or-Treating, and much more!
The biggest hit of the week was the introduction of Clubs, where each camper picked a Club to join and got to learn all about an activity/interest. The Clubs offered this week were Basketball, Improvisation/Drama, Nature Poetry and Swing Dance. It was very exciting and rewarding to watch the campers improve and increase understanding of their chosen activity!
Overall, we had an amazing group of kids and are super stoked for the rest of the summer, as they’ve set the bar amazingly high!

My first experience at Camp Cross was amazing. I want all of the campers and staff to know how much all of you hae impacted my life. You gave me a place to belong to free of judgement. You brought out a side of me I needed to find again and stay in touvh with.
