Volunteer

Camp Cross values its volunteers greatly. Help from volunteers enables us to prepare meaningful camp sessions and programs throughout the summer.  These people are responsible for preparing the facilities, serving meals, guiding our campers and ensuring the health of Camp Cross.

Our volunteers share a commitment to the ongoing success of Camp Cross by giving up to a week of their time during the summer to lend their own gifts and skills for our campers and guests.

Please take some time to look over the different ways you can volunteer and think about how you might share your own gifts with the Camp Cross community.

Please note that all volunteers must register for the session they are volunteering for and must complete Safeguarding God’s Children training for all youth and family sessions.

Labor of Love

Spend 1, 2 or 3 days at Camp Cross assisting other volunteers and staff to open camp for the upcoming season.  There are tasks for all trades and skill levels to prepare Camp Cross for the upcoming season.

Counselors

Counselors share their mentoring and leadership skills with our youth campers during the summer.  Counselors serve for a full week during a youth session. This volunteer opportunity is open for those entering the 10th grade or older.  All counselors must attend our Leaders in Training session at minimum once every two years in order to maintain up to the date training for Camp Cross.

Kitchen

Serving in the kitchen requires a great deal of work, but offers even greater rewards. One of the most memorable aspects of a camper’s time at Camp Cross is the time spent during meals. Our kitchen volunteers share their abilities for a full session by working with the kitchen staff to prepare meals, snacks and most importantly by providing a quality family-style dining experience.

Nurse

Our nurses provide us with the care we need for any ailment, whether it be a case of homesickness, a scrape or a cold.  They also provide supervision over the storage and dispensing of medications at Camp Cross.  The comfort our nurse volunteers provide during a session goes a long way to giving our guests a sense of being well taken care of.
